Bharat Mukti Morcha strongly condemns violence on Motesh Antao of Colomba, Sanguem, Goa. Motesh was physically attacked and slapped on the face by police official on 20th December 2011. According to the reports received at around 5 pm policemn PSI Prashal Desai attached to Curchorem police station intercepted truck driven by Motesh Antao in Sanvordem and demanded Rs.100/- as bribe. When Motesh refused Policeman slapped on his face. Policemen after slapping said that he slapped him because Motesh is involved in organising people against mining industry. Further Motesh was detained at Curchorem police station for over two hours in the evening along with the truck that he was driving.
It is a cruel irony that on the one Goa completes 50 years from Portuguese colonial rule and on the other hand citizens specially mulnivasi people continue to suffer police high handedness. This is one more instance that points that Goa is yet to be liberated from Baman Raj.
Bharat Mukti Morcha demands immediate action against the police official PSI Desai.
On November 12 2011 we have witness police high handedness at Old Goa Police Station with PI Francis Corte resorting to the arrest of four women from Vanxim defending their homeland from capitalist and brahmanical invasion.
