Menino Santana Fernandes and tyrst with Phoolan Devi!

Menino Santana Fernandes has come put with fresh set of missives in his lastest post circulated in social media on 30th December 2024 with bunch imaginations and unverified claims with regard to Joycee V. Dias.

In the beginning of his post objectionable words he used to refer to Joycee speaks volumes on how he thinks about an educated woman with post graduate degree who served as Sarpanch of Sao Jose de Arial and exercised full legal powers without compromise.

And those who do not compromise accumulate resentments, and so has Joycee. And so she was voted out as Sarpanch but she retains her dignity as member inspite of all the hurdles in her way.

Here is sample of imaginary charges leveled against her through the latest cited writings of Menino Santana Fernandes: Queen-pin, Pholan Devi, terrorist, supply of matka gambling and sex trade.

Joycee has even been charged admittedly without verification that she has withdrawn police complaint against Menino.

One fails to understand as to what is so fascinating about Phoolan Devi to Menino Santana Fernandes. Does he want see Joycee thundering Parliament and tear through darkness and gloom of our times? Of yes, then may his wishes be fulfilled sooner than later.

Or Is it simply that he has fascination for Phoolan Devi that he remembers her all the time?

From his writings Menino believes that it is his birthright to tag Joycee with variety of dictions and tags - Phoolan Devi, Terrorist, Queen-pin, matka gambling trader, sex trader etc. We are not sure as to who gave him that right.

Lets watch, and more : interrogate this extremely objectionable narrative of terrorism etc. And if you cannot then there is something seriously wrong with moral system we imbibed and needs major shake up as society. Earlier it happens better it is or else all might believe that Menino has right to use derogatory words against Joycee and even justifiable. This terrorist narrative-building exercise is indeed dangerous and must be countered tooth and nail. This piece of writing is meant to serve this purpose with malice towards none.

Alert notice on spurious notes on Joycee Veyona Dias's life by Menino Santan Fernandes

It has come to an attention that Menino Santana Fernandes posted narrative about the matter before Director of Panchayat connected to Joycee Veyona Dias as a Scheduled Tribe Woman elected member of Sao Jose de Areal Panchayat, South Goa.

Mr. Fernandes has effectively used his skills to launch variety of imaginary attributes to Joycee Veyona Dias's personality including that of tagging her as "Phoolan Devi" in his lastest whatsapp and facebook post.

Readers of such posts about Joycee Veyona Dias by said Menino Santan Fernandes are directed to consume them with caution and discretion as they are packed with deep rooted hatred towards dignity of women and violates human rights of Scheduled Tribes which, one do not admit subscribe too.

He has been using dirty disparaging language against Joycee Veyona Dias for reasons best known to him alone.

There have been already lodged complaint against Menino Santana Fernandes before Police dept, Margao for all the humiliation, he has been directing against Joycee Veyona Dias through his writings over the past some months with evidence.

Hope that law will take its course and Justice will prevail, as Joycee Veyona Dias will be able to carry on her responsibilities as elected ward member with dedication and without any distractions of online/offline nuisance.

In the meanwhile stay alert about all the venom spilling out of his key board and accumulated on his Facebook page.

Why Tribal organisations in Goa ignore SC/ST awareness campaign?

Today is December 10, 2024 International Human Rights Day. A look is required at the status of tribal rights in Goa.

Tribal movement in Goa at the beginning of this century fought successfully to gain status of Scheduled Tribes. Then portion of leadership got into defending tribal and other lands from mining industry. Contribution of GAKUVED has been significant without any doubts.

UTAA played significant role om political mobilization in support of political assertions. Adivasi Sanghatna (formerly Christian Adivasi Sanghatna) in Quepem contributed enormously towards cultural assertion of the tribal communities with their regular festivals.

Group of young people from tribal communities in Goa got into intellectual collaborations around identity question into "Hanv Konn" project and later publications.

Tribal research Centre in Canacona has been instrumental in promoting thought in defence of culture-livihood-forest right concerns.

Scheduled Tribes Association has challenged might of Dempo plant at Sao Jose de Areal in NGT. Dempo red category industry located scandalously in residential area feeds local people with black dust for breakfast, lunch and dinner in addition to daily dose in their lungs - the fly ash. Neither Srinivas Dempo nor Pallavi Dempo care about human live as much as they care for cash and votes to Parliament.

However there is great tragedy that tribal organisation has systematically ignored any focus of promoting awareness of provisions and enforcement of Sceduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989. Consequences of such a neglect are terrible. Tribal people are unable to resist attacks, abuses, insults, tagging etc.

This is certainly not a good sign for the leadership of tribal communities in India. This neglect is willful attraction of damage to the community and nobody other than entire tribal leadership is responsible for this. Earlier the leadership wakes yp better it is. If not, then certainly the consequences will be unpredictable.

Will Goa's collective tribal leadership rise up to the occasion? Or will continue to go with the flow of dangerous current politics?

The responsibility of tribal community is huge and we wish huge success!

Pictures from mining protest in Caurem

Bharat Mukti Morcha (BMM) supports current protests against mining in Caurem in Quepem Taluka of Goa. These pictures are of April 09, 2016. We share here the Press Release from Ravindra Velip about the day's protest interspersing in-between pictures with additional comments from BMM.

It was a peaceful protest by Caurem tribals by standing on the roadside, but their slogans written on placards were louder enough to realise that peace does not exist in this remote mining village of Quepem taluka.

They protested peacefully standing on the roadside while mining trucks were illegally transporting the e-auctioned iron ore from Fomento mines.

Finally the protesting villagers burnt the statue of Sanguem MLA Subhash Faldessai.

Women squatting on site with placards of protests

It was a unique scene with police force deployed at the mining lease while villagers were standing on the road, holding placards in their hands.

Most of them were women including children and senior peoples of village

It was a  peaceful protest, to reach out their feelings to the authorities, with a hope they would listen and act against the illegal transportation.

The message is clear: Stop harassing tribal people. Harassment is from Bamon Avadoot Timblo. Bamons have historically looted tribal people in India. This loot continues and Cavrem is one more example in Goa. Essentially this is an issue as much of race as it is of economics.
Though she is old at protest her spirit is young and determination to fight is intense.
We are determined to fight to the victory!

They have demanded the following:-

1. To stop immediately illegal transportation that is taking place.

2. inventory of the iron ore before transporting it, claiming that the quantity of the ore is more than double of what is being measured by the mines department.

3. Immediately register an FIR, Suspend jail authorities of Sada sub-jail and inquire into the matter Ravindra's assault.

4. Suspend PI Pravin Gawas ans PSI Vinayak Patil of Quepem Police station and inquire into the assault of Tribal villagers when they were custody of Quepem police on 06.04.2016

5. Immediately register 'The Sadhana Multipurpose co-op society' and allow to transport the e-auctioned ore through the society.

Because they stopped ore transportation before inventory, the police arrested them thrice while Ravindra was blind-folded and beaten up in a judicial lock-up, fracturing his hand.
