New record for illegal fishing in Zuari river

At 6.00 am there were 18 trawlers fishing illegally in Zuari river today. In the evening at 5.00 pm 15 trawlers carried on illegal fishing in the same river close to Siridao coast. Fisheries department patrolling boat was on holiday. Police boat as per information from coastal police at Vasco Harbour suffered breakdown. 

After sms was circulated to inform this to public and press as well as authorities in Fisheries department one police boat was found to be rushing to chase the trawlers away into Arabian Sea at around 5.30 pm. No trawlers were detained. All of them fled.

Illegal fishing continues in Zuari river inspite of objections

Illegal fishing today continued in Zuari river amidst objections from fishermen. At 4.00 pm 8 trawlers were noticed engaged in illegal fishing in Zuari river. Police at Harbour and other authorities in Fisheries department informed about illegal activities of trawlers. Action awaited.

Illegal fishing intensifies in Zuari river

20 trawlers were found to have been engaged in illegal fishing in Zuari river today at 4.10 pm. Information was sent to all the authorities of the Fisheries department - Minister, Director, Superintendent of Fisheries. Superintendent over the phone denied the existence of illegal trawlers in Zuari. Fishermen challenged him to come. Then Fisheries department patrol boat appeared in Zuari river and confronted the trawlers. Trawlers then left Zuari river.   

Earlier in the morning at 10.30 am 8 trawlers were found to be engaged in illegal fishing.   

Irresponsible State Government of Goa promotes illegal fishing in Zuari river

Today afternoon at 1.30 pm Seven trawlers were found engaged in illegal fishing in Zuari river. State of Goa is proving to be lame duck before illegal fishing.

Massive illegal fishing in Zuari goes unabated

Today it was new record for illegal fishing in Zuari river. In the morning session at 6.00 am 30 trawlers were found to have been engaged in illegal fishing. Police says their boat already patrolling the river. It looks like police bluff fishermen today as no police boat was visible in the river and illegal fishing continued unabated. Superintendent of Fisheries as provoking fishermen to come over to the Fisheries department to create law and order problem. Fishermen understood the plot and maintained calm and cool.

Then at 5.30 pm 7 trawlers were engaged in illegal fishing in Zuari river. No action taken against them. This Bamon Raj State needs to be changed.

Massive illegal fishing in the morning and evening today

Morning session of today witnessed sixteen trawlers engaged in illegal fishing at 7.00 am in Zuari river. Evening session witnessed six trawlers engaged in illegal fishing. When fishermen and member of local Panchayat Sanjay Pereira from  Cacra village phoned up director of fisheries Sharmila Monteiro on her mobile she told him not to call her up to complain and instead direct her calls to Superintendent of fisheries. No action was taken against trawlers today by police or by Fisheries department.

Morning illegal fishing in Zuari river

Four trawlers are illegally engaged in illegal fishing in Zuari river today from 7.00 am to 9.30 am. State Government is fully aware who the violators are but no action is initiated against them.

Goa Government has once again proved to be toothless as illegal fishing has continued in Zuari river with six trawlers engaging in illegal fishing at 4.00 pm today February 03, 2015.

Marathon illegal fishing in Zuari river

It started at 6.00 am in the morning and continued till last report came in at 3.00 pm; six trawlers have been fishing non-stop in Zuari river. Police when contacted at Harbor station in Vasco on their land line 08322521793 said they are running short of fuel. When further question as to what they will do if there is a terror attack now with they still be giving same reason for inaction? Police had no answer and said they have telephoned fisheries department to sent their Patrol boat. When Fisheries  Superintendent of  fisheries Hrishiskesh was spoken over the phone he told Sanjay Perreira from Cacra "come lets talk". 

Its amazing how irritating the posture of the Goa Fisheries department has been. Its current attitude smells like rotten eggs and is in desperate need of a facelift. It needs a leadership that will not duck before illegal cum unsustainable trawling practices in Zuari river. Longer it takes for Fisheries department to change this attitude greater danger will arise for prevailing Bamon Raj system in Goa. It can continue its current adamant attitude to the peril of Bamon Raj, that much intense will be the struggle for Liberation and freedom.

February begins with unsustainable fishing in Zuari river

Month of February 2015 began with a note of unsustainable as well as illegal fishing in Zuari river by six trawlers digging the river bed. On the first day itself half a dozen trawlers were seen moving about on fishing expedition even though they are forbidden to do so by the law. Police as well as Fisheries department has refrained from initiating crackdown on unsustainable fishing for the reason best known to them.
