Bharat Mukti Morcha delegation to North Goa Collector discussed remedies to fishing rights violations in Zuari river

Four member delegation from Bharat Mukti Morcha led by Maggie Silveira today 17th April 2015 called on North Goa Collector Smt.Nila Mohanan IAS at her office in Panjim. Delegation was in response to revelation from the the Director of Fisheries Sharmila Monteiro that Deputy Collector is involved in granting permissions to water sports activities in Zuari river that cause tremendous fishing rights violations. Delegation also conveyed the opposition to MPT proposed Marinas in Zuari river. Written presentation was also handed over to the North Goa Collector in this regard.

Collector assured the delegates of directing the Deputy Collector to act according to the letter from Bharat Mukti Morcha. She also informed that views of Bharat Mukti Morcha on opposing Marinas in Bambolim for high end tourists will be communicated to the respective government departments. Bharat Mukti Morcha had made special request to communicate to Union Ministry of Shipping, New Delhi. 

Smt. Mohanan informed delegation that it is Tourism department that is involved in promoting Marinas in Zuari river.
