Illegal fishing in Zuari, Police busy in Majorda and Colva

10th January 2015 morning ten trawlers illegally fishing in Zuari river. By 11.45 am 8 left two continued. Director was contacted by fishermen from fishermen from Odxel village. Director switched off the mobile after fishermen questioned her on illegal trawling in Zuari river on 9 January 2015. 5 Trawlers continued illegal fishing violating regulations in place till 5.00 pm.

Police at Harbor police station were contacted. They replied that their boats have gone for patrolling Colva and Majorda due to terrorists threats. It looks that police does not view illegal trawling as dangerous as terrorism. In fact it is more dangerous as industrial hunting which they are indulging is leading several fish species into extinction.

Goa Director of Fisheries allows illegal trawlers fish in Zuari, delays police action

Today 8th January 2015 at 9.00 am six trawlers were found to be engaged in illegal fishing in Zuari river. Director of Fisheries Sharmila Monteiro was immediately contacted by fishermen and member of Panchayat from Cacra Sanjay Pereira. Director told him to contact Superintendent of Fisheries. When the Superintendent of Fisheries was contacted he informed that he cannot act until ordered to do so by the Director of Fisheries.

Then at 12.00 noon full three hour after an offense committed and Director being informed, police reached Bambolim coast and were searching for illegally fishing trawlers. When they could not trace the trawlers they met local residents. Police were questioned as to the reasons for delay in approaching Zuari river. Police informed that they cannot come until sent by Director of Fisheries. So clearly today they were not informed on time and trawlers allowed to carry on illegal fishing activities in Zuari river. This is also the reason as to why there is no permanent fishing vessel being stationed in Zuari river. The above pictures are of the today morning illegal trawling off Cacra coast.

Where Truth prevails, Justice is born

Today was a second hearing of the Vanxim tripod case Government of Goa versus Maggie Silveira. Government Lawyer Frances Noronha moved application before the judge in sessions court in Panjim for the postponement of today's arguments. She gave the reason that senior lawyer who was supposed to appear in this matter is not present in the court room. What was interesting was that her application was drafted and written on stamp paper by Gaunekar/Ozone corporate lawyer and later submitted to the Judge after being duly signed by Government prosecutor.

Today, the case was for arguments. All the three ladies Anuradha Volvoikar, Swati Kerker and Deepika Tari were present with Mahendra Gaunekar/Ozone corporate lawyer and Maggie Silveira also was present along with her lawyer.

The case was for arguments as of today's date 08/01/2015. Though it was known that it's for arguments how come the senior lawyer was not present. What this democracy is about? Is it of the people, by the people and for the people? Or it is mockery of the people? The tripod case and the charge-sheeting of the four Vanxim women itself is a mockery and in the court room it is additional mockery.

A government lawyer that too senior should and must make it a point to be present  for the arguments next time, and do not submit another application asking for more time or excuse as senior lawyer is absent.

Time is precious and an individual who comes to the Court should and must be respected and not taken for granted by saying my senior is not present. Such applications must be rejected by the Judge. The human being has right of respect which must be given to individual.

The true dignity of any authority represents his/her inner self being. That is what is the true voice of Justice for People living in true democracy.

Well done Tiracol! Let Vanxim follow your example!

Bharat Mukti Morcha congratulates people of Tiracol for uniting against Golf and luxury tourism. What is remarkable about Tiracol is that even those people who had taken money from the hoteliers have now turned their backs on the project and vowed to protect their land from Ganguly and his associate predators.  Bharat Mukti Morcha also appreciates efforts of the local catholic priest in Tiracol Church in uniting people against the Golf and luxury tourism after his predecessor had forced people to surrender their land for Golf Course and luxury tourism plans and accept money.

Tiracol has set up very hopeful trend that even if people accept money they can be convinced to turned their back on temptations for money and struggle again to protect their ancestral land. It is hoped that this situation also emerges in Vanxim and those people who accepted money turn against the Bamon Mahendra Gaunekar and Ozone corporate. Like Tiracol people in Vanxim too has taken huge amount of cash to surrender their rights over paddy fields in Vanxim.

Tiracol is an example that stands as role model for the people of Vanxim and rest of Goa to turn against the Golf and Luxury project even though many of them have accepted cash. Maggie Silveira’s family has refused all the offers of money and is leading Bharat Mukti Morcha’s agitation for Liberation. That’s the reason Maggie Silveira has been charged with robbery case involving Tripod, along with three other ladies Anuradha Volvoikar, Swati Kerker and Deepika Tari when ladies confronted corporate staff in Vanxim and confiscated Tripod on November 10, 2011. They were placed under arrest in unethical manner on November 12, 2011.

This case came up for hearing on November 18, 2014. The three ladies had a corporate lawyer defending them with additional legal staff of Bamon Mahendra Gaunekar and Ozone corporate as the three ladies named above have accepted money and compromised. It is a mere act of slavery. Maggie has a separate lawyer to defend her as she goes about in uncompromising manner as far as Vanxim land is concerned. As Goans we have to save Goa and not get into slavery with Bamons like Gaunekar and Corporate bodies such as Ozone. This is what Maggie is. She is not the slave of Eurasian Bamons, or of the corporate. She is for Goa. She is for Vanxim. Viva Maggie! Viva Vanxim!

Jai Mulnivasi!
